What color is it? How long have you had it? Do you have any hobbies? Please read your classmate's posts and comment on their posts. I'm looking forward to reading your weekly report. Hi Nancy, Thank you for posting your weekly report.
Vocabulary: Good job learning 20 words. Please use them on a daily basis. Let's try to get 25 words next week. Reading: If you read the original stories (not the Disney versions] about queen they usually reveal the difficulties of being a ruler. Listening: Yes, we should be honest with ourselves. I personally think honest people have an easier time learning languages. Writing: 150 words is great! Did you think about the less interesting topics before writing?
Please keep up the good work.
Sincerely,

Hi Nancy!
I am Malcolm, one of the FILA English teachers.
Don't be sorry...you learned 20 new words. The goal is to continuously learn. Little by little! Try using the new words that you learn each week when you write posts on this board or any time you speak or write in daily life. It mat seem strange at first, but it does help you remember them.. Maybe you have heard the phrase, "Use it or lose it." Using the words regularly with help you to remember them and keep them in your long-term memory. Then you can say with certainty that you have learned them.
Sherlock Holmes mysteries are great! It is always amazing the way he solves the mystery in the end. That is why these stories have remained famous for such a long time. I love to read mysteries and watch mystery/suspense TV and movies. What book will you read next? Agatha Christie books are good too.
Yes, there are many problems in the world, and if you look carefully you can find how they are interconnected. Try drawing a diagram that shows what causes and effects are connected to a problem. Then think about why those causes exist. It might seem depressing, but it is hard to solve a problem without finding its roots.
Don't worry, it is natural to be able to write more about familiar/interesting topics than unfamiliar/less interesting topics. The point is that you are getting more words overall!
Keep up the great work!
Malcolm

Hi Nancy!
Malcolm here.
Yes, we understand that you are still taking exams and have other high school related activities. If you didn't have much time this week, then do what you can and do more next week. We are only asking you to be as consistent as possible in your pre-study for FILA. We don't want English to be a burden or a frustration for you. We just want to help prepare you as much as possible for your entrance into FILA. Take a deep breath and relax. Little by little!
Vocabulary: It is very important to review the vocabulary you are learning. Keep using them as often as you can and in as many different situations as possible. Don't forget to study related words, or other meanings for the words. Using the words consistently will help you remember them, so they will become automatic and you won't have to think about them when you are using them. What was the most interesting word that you have studied so far?
In general, do each of the activities we have suggested a little each day. Make it a habit, even if it is only for a few minutes. Build this into a habit. You can do it. This will not only help you when you come to university but also with the rest of your life.
Malcolm
