Hi Minnie!
This is Malcolm, one of the FILA English teachers.
Good job this week on continuing to work on your English skills.
Twenty-five new word, great! Have you used any of them yet? Try using the new words that you learn each week when you write posts on this board or any time you speak or write in daily life. It may seem strange at first, but it does help you remember them. Maybe you have heard the phrase, "Use it or lose it." Using the words regularly with help you to remember them and keep them in your long-term memory. Then you can say with certainty that you have learned them.
"I Robot" is classic sci-fi (science fiction). I love science fiction! Supposedly, "I Robot" is set in the 21st century, do you really think that we will have such well developed robots working and living in society within the next 85 years? What book are you going to read next?
I agree with Ms. Duckworth, effort is vital to learning and growth. Why do you believe "gritty is important?" What does it mean to you?
Good job with the Quick Writes. I'm sure that you will consistently increase your numbers if you write consistently. Writing is a skill! You you must train your "writing muscles" to make them strong.
Keep up the good work!
Malcolm

Dear Malcolm Thank you for your reply! I'm happy!
I believe robots working and living in society within next 85 years! But I can't imagine life with robots. I don't decide the book what I'm going to read next. What your recommended book?? Please tell me!
The reason why I believe "gritty is important" is that I think we may give up without gritty and Gritty makes us strong!

Hi Minnie,
I'm not sure if we will have robots in our homes or in society who will function independently, but I hope so.
What kind of books do you like?
What is your "gritty"?
Keep it up!

Hi Minnie, Thank you for posting your weekly report.
Vocabulary: Be sure to use these words every day. Use these words when you make your weekly reports and use them when you do your quick writes.
Reading: I Robot is a pretty advanced book. If you are having difficulty understanding the story please try to find an easier book. After reading the book please be sure to summarize the story on the message board.
Listening: Success in language learning also requires practice. Please practice using your vocabulary words. Perfect practice makes perfect. Practice and make sure you are making the practice perfect practice (not repeating mistakes). Repetition is good as long as its perfect repetition without mistakes.
Writing: Fantastic! I hope you get to 150 words next time.
Great job Minnie. Please keep up the good work.
Sincerely,
Miyagi H

Vocabulary: I learned 25 new words! I make some sentence by using them. For example, "I want to widen my field of vision." I'm going to use them more!!
Reading: I started reading "African history" It is short introduction. It's wrote about African culture, religions, and identities. It's very difficult for me, But I want to understand truths of Africa, I try reading it!
Listning: I watching TED Talks entitled "Want to innovate? Become a now-ist" by Joi Ito He explains the times before the internet spreads and after. and he also explains new way of innovation. His opinion is to focus on being connected always learning, fully aware, and super present. we should be "now-ist"
Writing: I did 2quick writes this week 1 every day. I was able to write 108words. I was socked this result. But I took it for granted that I can't write well. Because I wasn't able to make effort to create time to study English. My next aim is to write more than 150 words.
Thank you.

Hi Minnie,
Vocabulary: Good job! Use your new words. It is very important to review the vocabulary you are learning. Keep using them as often as you can and in as many different situations as possible. Don't forget to study related words, or other meanings for the words. Using the words consistently will help you remember them, so they will become automatic and you won't have to think about them when you are using them. What was the most interesting word that you have studied so far?
Reading: Sounds like an interesting book. I teach a course about African-American studies. We start the course talking about Africa and its ancient cultures besides Egypt. I look forward to hearing about the information you learn about Africa.
I would like to suggest that you choose an easier book to read as well. You should choose a book that has few words that you don't know.
Listening: What can you do in your life to be a now-ist? How can you be "always learning, fully aware, and super present"?
Writing: How many did you do, 2 or 7? Don't be so negative about your writing. "If you say you can't, you won't!"
Writing is a skill that develops slowly over time with lots of practice. Just like playing a sport or an instrument, it takes a long time and a lot of effort to become a good writer. Little by little!
You can do it!
