vocabulary: I learned about 25 new words this week. I can know a lot of new meaning.
Reading: The book I'm reading is called "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" by Roald dahl. Charlie's grandpa and grandma teach charlie about Mr.Willy Wonka and his chocolate factory. For example,Mr.Willy Wonka's invented a way of making chocolate ice cream that stays cold for hours and hours without being in the icebox. I’m curious about the continuation of a story.
Listening: I watched a TED Talk entitled "What I saw in the war" by Janine di Giovanni. She said,we have to communicate each other not using military force. It can harm and give negative effect to large number of people. I think so. I wish peaceful world without terrible and sad war.
Writing: I did 5 quick writes this week 1 every day. I wrote about 80 words on my first quick write. By the end of the week I had improved to about 100 words:)

Listening: I watched a TED Talk entitled "Get your next eye exam on a smartphone" by Andrew Bastawrous. These days, many people use smartphone, which have many sunctions like music, web-surfing and etc. I was surprised that this video show smpartphone's function that be used by medical purpose. Vocabulary: I learned about 35 new words this week.
Reading: Firstly it was the boy. Eating is his hobby. He ate a lot of Wonka's sweets. That's why, he could get a Golden ticket. The second is a girl whose parents went out into the town and started buying up all the Wonka candy bars, because she told them to want a Golden ticket. So ,she could get it. The third is a girl who like gum. She always chewing gum, but when she heard about these ticket things of Mr. Wonka's, she laid off the gum and switched to candy bars. That's why, she could get it. The fourth is a boy. He always watch a film in which one bunch of gangsters was shooting up another bunch of gangsters with machine guns. I think Charlie is poor. That's why, it is hard for him to buy one candy bar. However, his feeling to want to go to the factory than other children.
Listening: I watched a TED Talk entitled "Go ahead, make up new words!" by Erin McKean. She tells that grammar has natural rules that come with learning a language. She ells creativity should expand into making new words and conveys that it is important to make new words to assist in expressing thoughts. I have never thought about making up my own words and having them become part of our language. That's why, it is interesting for me.
Writing: I did 7 quick writes this week 1 every day. I take time a little to think about the questions. No, I don't have someone help me keep time.

Hi Michelle,

Vocabulary: 35 words is great. Please try to use these words everyday.
Reading: Do you think these children are typical examples of children today? Are we like any of these children? Why did the author make these characters? Do you think Charlie is the ideal child?
Listening: OK how about "FILA" as a verb. Let's FILA in April = meaning study hard and start the FILA program. Do you have any new words?
Writing: Great job! How many words did you write in 10 minutes?
Please keep up the good job.

Vocabulary: I learned about 35 new words this week. Ok! I'll try it!
Reading: I don't think they are typical examples of all children today. However, I think there is the point fitting these children. The first boy is an obese child. The second girl is abnormally particular about the word "first" and "championship". The third girl is very selfish because she is indulged and was brought up. The fourth boy is the egocentrism which thinks that one's knowledge is absolutely right, and never bends it. We are like Firstly boy, because Obesity percentages of Japanese increase recently. It is difficult for me, I think the author considered four children as a symbol of the present child. And he made those characters from thought that he wanted them to become a person like Charlie. That's why, I think he is the ideal child.
Listening: It is a difficult question. I don't have any new words... I watched a TED Talk entitled "How to grow a tiny forest anywhere" by Shubhendu Sharma. He could make forests that compared to a conventional plantation, grow 10 times faster, there 30 times more dense, and 100 times more biodiverse. He said he wanted to make more of these forests. I was surprised about it, because I don't think we can make forest so easy. It is important subject for everybody, living in our world. I agree with him. Nowadays there is a highly increasing number of constructions and buildings in our world, and forests are being decreased. However, this methodology has potential. By sharing, we can actually bring back our native forests.
Writing: I did 7 quick writes this week 1 every day. I could write about 120 words.

Hi Michelle, Thank you for posting your weekly report.
Vocabulary: 35 new words. Wow! That's great! Make sentences, use them when speaking and make up sentences in your mind to keep them in your mind.
Reading: What makes Charlie the ideal child? What are the characteristics of an ideal child?
Listening: We could use more forests in the world? Deforestation is becoming a big issue in the world today. Do you think we can restore all of the forests which we've lost?
Writing: Great job! Did you mean "I wrote up to 120 words?"
Great job Michelle! Keep up the good work.
Sincerely,

Vocabulary: I learned about 35 new words this week.
Reading: An attitude of gratitude to people makes Charlie the ideal child. And I think it is the characteristics of an ideal child.
Listening: I think we could use more forests in the world. If all the people use his way, I think we can restore all of the forests which we've lost. I watched a TED Talk entitled "What veterinarians know that physicians don't" by Barbara Natterson-Horowitz. She said we can learn the way of treating humans. And veterinarians take care of their animal patients. Doctors should also check their patients by paying close attention. However, we know that living beings have got same emotions. Doctors should treat their patients carefully and sincerely. I was very surprised about it.
Writing: Yes! I did 7 quick writes this week 1 every day. I could write 100 words.

Dear Michelle, Thank you for posting your weekly report and thank you for answering my questions.
Vocabulary: Please make sure to use these 35 new words. Use these words in your quick writes and in your weekly reports.
Reading: Yes, I agree. This attitude of gratitude led Charlie to return the Everlasting gobstopper and win the final prize. Charlie and grandpa made a mistake but Mr. Wonka was willing to forgive them because he was honest. I think his honesty came from his gratitude. On a side note I think honest students make better language learners? What did you think of the ending of the story? Are you planning to read the next book? Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator is also a fun read.
Listening: Yes, since animals can't speak like people veterinarians need to be more sensitive to the feelings of their patients. Can we apply this to language learning? If we are more sensitive to the native speakers maybe we can understand what they are saying.
Writing: Good job getting 7 quick writes done. Did you learn the words you learned in your vocabulary? Have you tried typing without looking at your fingers? This may help you increase your speed. Please keep on trying to improve you writing speed.
Great work. Please let us know which book you decide to read next.
Sincerely,
Miyagi H

Vocabulary: I learned about 35 new words this week.
Reading: Mr.Wonka are giving the whole of this enormous factory to little Charlie. That's why,he and his family go to the most wonderful place in the world, and they will be happy. I was very happy, when I read the ending of this story. It is because,Charlie who does not forget the feeling of thanks and his family became happy. Sorry, I don't decieded to read the next book.
Listening: Yes! we can apply this to language learning. I think so, too. I watched a TED Talk entitled "For more tolerance, we need more ... tourism?" by Aziz Abu Sarah. He said that tourism is the best sustainable to bringing down the walls that separate people. And it is to create a sustainable way of connecting with each other and creating friendships. This is the future of travel. I think so, too. I think it is the most important for it that more people travel and see things for themselves.
Writing: Yes, I did. I couldn't typing without looking at your fingers. Thank you for being able to teach me a method to make my speed fast. I'll try to improve my writing speed.I did 7 quick writes this week 1 every day. I could write about 100 words.

Hi Michelle!
This is Malcolm, one of the FILA English teachers.
We don't want English to be a burden or a frustration for you. We just want to help prepare you as much as possible for your entrance into FILA. Take a deep breath and relax.
Vocabulary: Thirty-five words are great! It is very important to review the vocabulary you are learning. Keep using them as often as you can and in as many different situations as possible. Don't forget to study related words, or other meanings for the words. Try using the new words that you learn each week when you write posts on this board or any time you speak or write in daily life. It may seem strange at first, but it does help you remember them. Maybe you have heard the phrase, "Use it or lose it." Using the words consistently will help you remember them, so they will become automatic and you won't have to think about them when you are using them. What was the most interesting word that you studied?
Reading: "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" is a great story. What do you think Charlie will do in the future?
If you liked this book you could try reading "Matilda" by the same author.
Listening: Yes, tourism is a way to bring people from different cultures together. Often visitors go only to tourist spots where they don't meet or talk with many people from that culture. How would you make sure that tourists visiting Chiba could have a meaningful, culture-sharing experience?
Writing: Little by little! Writing and tping are both skills. Just like any skill, it take time and practice to develop those skills. I'm sure with consistent practice you will get etter and faster.
Keep up the good work.
Malcolm

Vocabulary: I can't choose one word, so please give me time a little more. I learned about 35 new words this week.
Reading: Charlie will run a chocolate factory in the future and carries a smile to the people of the world through chocolate like Mr. Wonka. I choose a "Gulliver's Travels" by Jonathan Swift. When I finish reading this book, I'll try reading "Matilda" by the same author.
Listening: I think I try to interview tourists. I watched a TED Talk entitled "For these women, reading is a daring act" by Laura Boushnak. She met Fayza and she said own way to control own life was through education. Lastly, she said one of the four activist women I interviewed in Tunisia. Yasmine wrote "Question your convictions. Be who you to want to be, not who they want you to be. Don't accept their enslavement, for your mother birthed you free." I learned it is a very important thing for us to get education.
Writing: I did 7 quick writes this week 1 every day. I could write about 100 words.
