Hi Kevin, Welcome to the FILA message board. Good job making your first post. Do you have a Takoyaki maker? Maybe you can teach your classmates? I think the international students will want to know how to make Takoyaki. You're a Hanshin Tigers fan? Do you know who Cecil Fielder is? He used to play for Hanshin but his son is an American baseball player now and an All Star. His name is Prince Fielder. Please read your classmates posts and comment on them. Sincerely, Miyagi H

Hi Kevin.
This is Malcolm. I'm one of the FILA English teachers.
You have been doing great!
Ten new words! Try using the new words that you learn each week when you write posts on this board. Maybe you have heard the phrase, "Use it or lose it." Using the words regularly with help you to remember them and keep them in your long-term memory. Then you can say with certainty that you have learned them.
What books did you read? What kind of stories were they? Why did you like them?
Philosophy can be difficult in any language. iBT listening sections are only a part of a lecture from a class...they can be a bit boring. Why don't you try to listen to something on TED Talks. The talks are usually much more interesting.
Try using the Quick Write topics. The purpose of the Quick Writes is to increase your ability to write your own thoughts on paper as quickly as possible. This is an important skill. Follow the direction that were sent to you in the materials for self-study.
Keep up the good work.
Malcolm

Good evening! Today, I heard the situation of my seniors from English teacher. I came to be so nervous… In particular, TOEFL makes me afraid of the most! I fully realized the importance of my own studying. Therefore I'll study harder from now on.
Vocabulary I learned new 10 words from General Service List and my class of school. I think I could get full of 30 score of Vocabulary part of exam.
Reading I only read a passage in text for TOEFL. It is about viruses. It's too difficult for me, but I'll keep trying to read it.
Listenning I watched a TED movie without subtitles. But for subtitles, I couldn't understand easily… However, that's my challenging! I'll watch it everyday.
Writing I only wrote 1 quick write. It's about my dream, after graduate SUJ. Moreover, I wrote a essay about my experience through Learning Cluster, in my school. It is sooooo difficult for me to write a essay because I wrote for the first time.
I'll keep trying effort until I enter SUJ. Thank you.

Hi Kevin, Thank you for posting your weekly report. How did you do on your final exam?
Vocabulary: Did you mean you got 30 out of 30 on the vocabulary section of your final exam? Have you used the 10 new words you learned? Please try to use them in your weekly reports and in your quick writes.
Reading: What did the passage say about viruses? Please give us more details.
Listening: Which TED Talk did you watch? If the video is too difficult please choose a different one. Voice of America may be easier.
Writing: How many words did you write in your quick write. What is your dream? What was your experience with learning clusters? Please explain in detail.
Kevin, this report is extremely vague. Please tell us what you read instead of describing how difficult it was. Please give more specific details next time.
Sincerely,
Miyagi H
