Hi Jessica, Do you mean "Do you have any relatives in Aomori?" Yes. My wife's mother is from Aomori. She is from Goshogawara. We went there to visit my mother-in-laws brother and sister. Aomori is similar to my hometown in America. I'm from Utah and we get a lot of snow like Aomori. I actually miss the snow.
Wow! You went to Boston, New York and Maine. Did you get a chance to do some site-seeing in New York? Did you see the Statue of Liberty? Where would like to study abroad in the future? How about everyone else?

Title of this is "Too many graduates, not enough jobs".Especially in China and India, more and more young people are graduating from universitis -and then discovering that it isn't easy to find a job. But,reserchers have found that these underemployed graduates there are generally not angry or sad!! In my case,I think that will be worrying.

Vocaburary; I learned 39 words this week. I'd like to remember perfectly!
Reading: Charlotte made letters to save Wilber. It was the words "TERRIFIC"! Fern's family was surprised to see that. But,it was just miracle taht a spider made letters,so Fern's mother went to doctor to consult about this incident. But the doctor said "Don't worry.I think she will just love animals." Wilber is scheduled to participate in the County Fair from next scene,so I would like to read soon!
Listning; I watched TED talk entitled "Color blind or color brave?" by Mellody Hobson. She appealed to racial discrimination. She said,"The first step to solving any problem is to not hide from it.so now, it it time we took a stand,we show courage."I thought she is a courageous woman and I hope to end racial discrimination's way of thining.

Hi, Jessica!
I'm one of the FILA English teachers.
Good job!
39 new words! A good way to remember them is to use them when writing and speaking. Try using the new words that you learn each week when you write posts on this board. Maybe you have heard the phrase, "Use it or lose it." Using the words regularly will help you to remember them and keep them in your long-term memory. Then you can say with certainty that you have learned them.
"Charlotte's Web" is a great book. I think I read it the first time in elementary school--3rd grade. It has a great message for people of any age. The antics of the animals on the farm are quite entertaining. What do you think Charlotte will write next?
Racial discrimination is a terrible thing. Does racial discrimination happen in Japan? What can you do to stand up and show courage?
It is good to hear you are between 100 and 130 words in your Quick Writes. Keep writing!
Keep up the good work!
Malcolm

Listning: I watched TED talks entitled "Why I live in mortal dread of pubic speaking" by Megan Washington. She is a Australian's singer has a stutter. It seems she've never really talked about it before so explicity. But,singing for her is make more than making nice sounds, making nice songs, feeling known or understood, and making us feel the things that she feels. Finally, she sang her songs playing the piano in front of listners!! It was really nice voice! And I want to understand such a woman.

Hi Jessica. Good job! Are you trying to use your new words when you speak and write? It may feel a little strange, but "practice makes permanent!" Use your new words! It sounds like you are almost finished with "Charlotte's Web." It has a bittersweet end. I cried, but I also smiled. Enjoy! Do you like to talk in front of groups of people? I am always nervous when I have to speak in front of an audience. Yes, I know. I am a teacher, but I still get very nervous in front of the class, especially on the first day. I have a way to help myself so that I can do it. Maybe I will tell you about it if you are in my class. Ask me then. Good work on the Quick Writes! Don't worry so much about correctness. Go for speed! What kind of laptop did you get? Malcolm

Vocaburary: I lerned 34 new words this week.
Reading: Charlotte was going to prepare to have baby.So she was very busy.In the Country Fair,Wilber wasn't in good health.he had been feeling dissier and dizzier while Fern's family introduced him to people. At last,he suddenly fainted away. Then the loud speaker said "we can't give a prize to a dead pig" At first. But a rat-Templeton,bit Wilber's tail! And then,he was surprised at feeling pain. But thanks to Templeton,Wilber could get a prize! That was interesting scene because little different compared with movies!
Listening: I listened BBC learning English entitled "Experimental schools of the 1970s" In most school pupils have to follow the rules, behave well and study hard. But in the "free schools" of 1970s Britain, there was no rules and no lesson either,So had no qualifications, no exam results... Even if they leave school, they can't get a job. They went back to college to study for exam in maths and English.
Writing: I did 6 quick write this week 1 every day. I have written about 130 words but I'd like to write about 150 words!

Hi,everyone! Aomori is still cold! It snowed heavely today!X(
Vocaburary: I learned 41 new words this week. I want to review words I remnmbered.
Reading: I have done reading Charlotte's Web! So I try new book. It is "Charlie and the Chocolate factory".I read a little. Charlie found a huge chocolate factory. He wanted to know about that so, asked Grandpa and Grandma to tell. According to them...a Indian Prince and Mr.Wonka lived in the house which made of chocolate.But,Mr.Wonka warned her to start eating it right away because there come a very hot day with a boiling sun and begin to melt! But she wouldn't listen because I'm going to LIVE in it.I'm interested in the next part of this book.
Listening: I watched TEDtalks entitled "Be an opportunity maker" by Kara Anderson. She thought about reimagine the world. Her idea is to see it one where we all become greater oppotunity-makers with and for others. She thinks it is important to become oppotunity-makers who use best talents together. Opportunity-makers have three traits. Oppotunity-makers keep honing their top strength and they become pattern seakers. They get involved in different worlds than their words so ther're trusted and they can see those patterns, and they communicate to connect around sweet spots of share interest. It is little difficult for me to understand them, and take action. First,I want to find out my top strength.
Writing: I wrote I did 7 quick writes this week 1 every day. It is fun!

Hi Jessica!
I am visiting my parents in the USA now and it is cold (-13 C) now and snowing again. I like the snow but not such cold temperatures.
Forty-one words, great! Reviewing is very important. You will need to be able to remember and use them without having to think about them. That is how you can know if you have really learned the words. Use the new words often! What were the most interesting words you learned this week?
I'm glad you enjoyed "Charlotte's Web." It has been a long time since I read "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." What do you think will happen next? Have you seen either of the movie versions of the book? One was made in 1971 with Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka and the other in 2005 with Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka. They are both different from the book in some places. Enjoy the story!
Sounds like a very interesting TEDTalk! What are your strengths? Make a list and see who you are and what your strengths are.
Good work with the Quick Writes! I'm glad you are enjoying them. Are the number of words increasing little by little? What was your average this week?
Keep up the good work!
Malcolm

Hi Jessica, Thank you for posting your weekly report. Vocabulary: Yes, please review and use the words you learned. Use the words in your quick writes and use the words in your weekly reports. Reading: Please share with everyone what you liked or disliked about Charlotte's web. What happened at the end of the story? What was the main message in the story? Was Pondicherry a prince or princess? www.youtube.com/watch?v=OW9Zvzhf_Rg Please give more detail in your summaries. Listening: Great job on describing the TED talks program you watched. Global leaders are opportunity makers and you could be a leader in the world. Writing: Good job doing a quick write every day. How many words did you type in 10 minutes? As you learn more vocabulary words your weekly reports should be filled with those new words you learned. Your reports should have more detail and describe your activities with specific details. Next week please be sure to use the words you have learned and add more detail to your descriptions. Sincerely, Miyagi H

Hi,everyone. I'm so sorry. I couldn't do my homework fully because I went to Sendai for a week.
Vocaburary: I learned 22 words this week. I should learn more...
Reading: I could not read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I'll read more next week.
Listening: I watched TEDtalks by Shaka Senghor. When he was 19, he shot and killed a man. And he was a young drug dealer with a quick temper. But,things went dramatically wrong, when his parents separated and eventually divorced. Wasn't in a good neiborhood, no one hugged him, no one counseled him, no one told him he would be okey. He learned a lot. Thanks to his son and friends, he had been changed his mind. He was aware that the three things are important in his life. These are acknowledgment, apologizing and atoning. Anybody can have a transformation if we create the space for that to happen. He said, "I think collectively, we can create a world where men and women aren't held hostage to their pasts, where misdeeds and mistakes don't define you for the rest of your life. I was surprised at his experience and talked all of his life in front of listener. This story was amazing impression!
Writing: I did 3 quick this week 1 everyday. I wrote about 120 words. But I would like to write more words!

Hi Jessica.
Malcolm here.
We realize that you have a busy life with school and other responsibilities. We are only asking you to be as consistent as possible in your pre-study for FILA. We don't want English to be a burden or a frustration for you. We just want to help prepare you as much as possible for your entrance into FILA. Take a deep breath and relax. Little by little!
Vocabulary: Make sure to review the words you have learned over the past weeks. The goal is for all the words to become automatic. I would also like to challenge you to use the new words you are learning in your daily life when you speak or write. Try to use them when you write your weekly report. Also, try making your own original sentences using the new words you are learning. Don't be afraid to use English with your friends. What were the most interesting words you learned this week?
Reading: Start reading a little each day. Make it a habit, even if it is only for a few minutes. Build this into a habit. You can do it.
Listening: Please don't copy and paste from the subtitles and transcript and edit it. Please write in your own words.
Writing: Keep working on your writing skills consistently.
You can do it!
Malcolm

He liveed foy 31 days in underwater of laboratoly to take a lot of time.Throgh his experience,He thought various things. He said "I dream of the day that we have underwater cities, and maybe, just maybe,if we push the boundaries of adventure and knowledge, and we share that knowledge with others out there,we can solve all sorts of problems."
